Setting out from Westport quays, this trail passes by some fantastic scenery as you make your way towards Murrisk Abbey. One of the highlights of this walk is the fantastic views of Clew Bay and its numerous drumlin islands which you are sure to enjoy. As you come closer to Murrisk, the towering presence of Ireland’s holy Mountain Croagh Patrick dominates the landscape and is sure to grab your attention. Croagh Patrick has been attracting visitors since ancient times, with thousands of people climbing the Mountain every year on the last Sunday in July, an annual pilgrimage day known as Reek Sunday.
