To reach the Brackloon Wood trailhead, take the Leenane road from Westport. After approximately 6 km turn right for Owenwee, continue for 500m, then turn right at the crossroads, continue for 1.5 km and you will see the trailhead on your right.
Brackloon wood is categorised as a semi-natural Atlantic oak woodland, with some oaks here up to 200 years old. The Owenwee river runs through the woodland.
