Clare Island is an incredible walking destination with a most interesting and varied landscape of sea-cliffs, hills and bogs to view and enjoy. It is famous as the home of the 15th century pirate queen Gráinne O’Malley. Clare Island is just 5 km off the west Mayo coastline and the ferry to the Island departs from Roonagh Pier, outside Louisburgh.
