Description

Moygownagh is a village on the R315, located 8 km north of Crossmolina. Moygownagh is 45 min (44.0 km) from Castlebar via R310 and R315 roads. The Red walk follows quiet country roads and forest tracks and goes through Blanemore Forest, an area of extensive archaeological monuments from the Stone, Iron and Bronze ages. These monuments show the site has been in use for thousands of years. Information signs point out ancient ringforts, tombs and other sights of interest which can be seen along the way. The Blanemore Forest Walk is part of this loop walk.
