Bonniconlon is in North East Mayo approximately 10km from Ballina. Several walkways have been developed in this area. The walks are along country lanes and stony paths. The complete package of trails is marketed as the Ox Mountain Trail.
This walk in the shadow of the Ox Mountains follows bog tracks, quiet roads and green laneways offering impressive views across the North Mayo countryside.
- Trailhead / Start Point: Approximately 3 km east of Bonniconlon, located in a new carpark just off the R294
- Terrain: Country Lanes, Stony Paths, Open Bog and Mountainside
- Direction: 1m high black posts with a Yellow Walking Man and Arrow. Some white marking pencils are also used on some sections between black posts
