Mayo has so much more to offer walking enthusiasts than any other county in the country! There are all kinds of walking trails, including Mountain, Coastal and Island, Rural and Urban Greenways, and National Loop Trails. Here you will find an abundance of information, including directions, detailed maps, descriptions and photographs.

Inishbiggle is a small island between the northeast of Achill Island and the mainland off the coast of County Mayo. The island is accessed by boat from Gubnadoogha at Ballycroy or Bullsmouth on Achill Island. The island is only 2.6 km2 in area–and is home to about 20 people. Farming and fishing are the primary activities. There are two loop walks to choose from on Inishbiggle with separate trailheads, one at each ferry landing point at opposite ends of the island.

The Castlebar to Turlough route takes you through woodland and open countryside and follows the course of the Castlebar river from Castlebar town to the Museum of Country Life in Turlough. Along the trail, you cross over a single-span red bridge which is a lovely feature of this greenway.
