Mayo has so much more to offer walking enthusiasts than any other county in the country! There are all kinds of walking trails, including Mountain, Coastal and Island, Rural and Urban Greenways, and National Loop Trails. Here you will find an abundance of information, including directions, detailed maps, descriptions and photographs.
These walks offer fine views of Clew Bay, Croagh Patrick and the Nephin Beg mountain range.
The Castlebar to Turlough route takes you through woodland and open countryside and follows the course of the Castlebar river from Castlebar town to the Museum of Country Life in Turlough. Along the trail, you cross over a single-span red bridge which is a lovely feature of this greenway.
This Greenway takes walkers and cyclists along the line of the old railway between Westport and Achill Island. Along the way, you pass through the pretty villages of Newport and Mulranny and enjoy spectacular scenic views of Croagh Patrick and Clew Bay. You can also begin at the Achill Island Hotel (Ostan Oilean Acla) and do the trail in the opposite direction.

Within Mayo, there is a feast of great cycling options through a series of scenic routes. There are country roads leading to seaside coves, and to mountain tops.
